Honeycomb modular pods are constructed in compliance with all EU regulations for insulation and sustainability adhering to the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). Furthermore, our pods can be installed under permitted development regulations with no planning permissions required.
Almost immediately after presenting the concept, questions emerged “Can you turn this Honeycomb concept into private living pots?” As there was a huge opportunity coming up for this type of modular pots, with Ireland as a first country in the EU changing the building and planning permissions in a way that houseowners can place a prefab unit, without complicating planning permissions, on his property as long as the size is under 45 sqm. This as a way to ease the housing crisis.
To stimulate this scheme in Ireland, houseowners can generate a tax free rental income of max. 14.000 Euros a year. House and property owners who take this opportunity to buy to rent out, will have their investment back in a few years and generate a nice additional revenue stream for years to come.
The Honeycomb student housing concept is like a mini campus, 5 individual pots with their own entrance and consisting of a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchenette and a study, situated around a central Honeycomb unit which functions as a co- working space and a communal living area, giving students a common place where they can study, eat, drink and socialise. This will function as a mini campus. These units can be installed, maintained and rented out by our company.
